Ballarat Blossom Trees

I recently found these pictures taken last year in Ballarat. After seeing them I became obsessed with blossom trees and had it in my head that I ought try and get a family portrait now that we have our new baby but not with a single tree but LOTS of blossom trees.
However much to my frustration after many weeks and attempts I have been unsuccessful. It found it far too difficult to juggle getting my little family together at the same time, having good weather and then trying to find an orchard.

Our first attempt was on a recent trip to Mildura. We were headed there for the Captains work and I thought it was perfect timing as there are many orchards there, but the variation in climate meant the trees blossomed before we visited. After chatting to a few locals I also attempted to find an orchard I had heard was blossoming but after searching the address online and then driving to the location we found it to be the processing plant and not the actual orchard location.

I then spotted a random strangers engagement photo on Instagram that was taken at an orchard that was in full bloom. So the following day I waited until post nap and packed two half dressed and screaming kids in the car, drove 45 minutes to a train station to collect the Captain after work (with a change of clothes for him) and then headed straight to the orchard.

The Captain changed in the car along with the kids. However when we arrived at the destination the temperature dropped, it started pouring rain and gale force winds descended on us as if we were in the middle of a hurricane (This is rather funny as I have an obsession with checking the weather, but for once didn’t check!!). There was no way I was going to take the kids out of the car in that weather let alone expect us and my cheap tripod to stand upright. So we drove home again…

I am pretty sure I have missed out on a blossom photo shoot however if you know of an orchard that does blossom PLEASE let me know. Next year I will be far better prepared (probably not!). In the meantime I am now trying to source pumpkin patches and harvest festivals to visit this coming Autumn. Recommendations welcome!!
